Transpacific stands and delivers for the US Navy

As the US Navy sailed in and out of ten Australian ports over the past 12 months, Transpacific's team worked feverishly behind the scenes during seven of these visits to ensure their waste management needs were met.
Contracted by Military Agency Services Pty Ltd (who were the husbandry agent for all US Navy services in Australia), Transpacific managed all of the US Navy’s solid and liquid waste requirements for their visits to Fremantle, Hobart, Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville and Gladstone ports.
Transpacific Industrials National Sales Manager, Adrian Valente said that, as a very safety and security-conscious organisation, a key to successfully working with the US Navy was keeping safety paramount at all times, discretion and a quick response time.
“Due to security reasons, limited notification of each visit was provided so we had to ensure that our licensed trucks and drivers were on-hand and ready to go portside when required.
“We also had a range of contingency equipment and employees available to ensure a 24/7 service could be provided without delays,” he said.
During USS Blue Ridge’s week-long visit to Brisbane in July, Transpacific removed over one million litres of sewerage waste via two, 22,000 litre tankers on the wharf.
A third 22,000 litre tanker worked around the clock during this time to pump waste from the site to a sewerage treatment facility. The team also removed a significant amount of quarantine waste from the site during the visit.
Following this visit, the US Navy said that the service provided by all contractors was nothing short of outstanding.
In particular, they praised the responsive, flexible and supportive nature in which the services were provided, particularly during last minute requests.
Adrian agreed with these sentiments saying great customer service and flexibility were key aspects of why this contract was so successful.
“The team were taking calls at all hours of the day, sometimes seven days a week, and also had to work efficiently and effectively with a wide range of subcontractors,” Adrian said.
“Transpacific were also busy providing customised invoices and waste statistics to Military Agency Services before the US Navy left each port…so you can imagine how much work was involved in that,” Adrian said.
Military Agency Services Managing Director, Chris Mangan, said the expertise and dedication shown by all Transpacific staff to the project was nothing short of outstanding in all respects.
“In particular, I would like to thank Transpacific Technical Sales Executive, Katie Kelliher whose overall management was an absolute key to success, and Adrian Valente and Blake Senior for their ongoing support during the project,” Chris said.
“The team acquitted themselves with extraordinary professionalism, and most importantly, commitment,” he said. “I sincerely congratulate the team on their achievements and hope we have the chance to work together many times again in the future,” Chris said.
