Scum and foam harvesting

Floating build ups of scum and foam are easily removed, processed and treated using Transpacific’s unique biological scum harvesters.
The scum harvester is designed to mechanically remove only the floating surface scum, whilst not having an effect on the scum forming organisms suspended in the mixed liquor.
Revolving scrapers gently collect the scum without breaking up or re-immersing the waste product, allowing the scum to accumulate, concentrate and possibly de-hydrate prior to removal. The accumulated scum is collected in a hopper where it is either discharged into a pit or pumped away for further processing.
Utilised in sewage treatment plants around Australia, Transpacific’s scum harvesters can be installed in oxidation ditches or aeration basins for efficient reprocessing. Harvesting the surface accumulations has proven to be an effective method of controlling the population of filamentous type organisms in the mixed liquor to acceptable levels.
Biological scum harvester machines
As specialists in scum harvesters, Transpacific design & fabricate a range of biological scum harvester machines. Scum harvester components and options can vary depending on your budget and specifications, however the following components are standard:
- A series of 316 stainless elevator buckets and baffles to collect the highly concentrated dehydrated floating scum accumulation.
- An incline plane system to elevate the collected scum and debris while partially dewatering the product prior to entering the hopper.
- A suitably sized 316 stainless steel hopper to contain the elevated scum prior to pumping. The hopper is fitted with a spray bar containing a motorised valve and two spray nozzles.
- A quality mono progressive cavity pump that has the ability to remove the accumulated scum and debris.
- Two types of bearings – a stainless steel ball bearing fitted in UV stabilised housing in the drive shaft located at the top of the machine and the two lower shafts are fitted with a stainless steel and Teflon lined bearing assembly with a UV stabilised plastic housing. All bearings are sealed for life.
